Week 18 Wrap Up

Hi DVR Families,

It was great to have our students back, and really great to see their faces on Zoom! Thank you for having cameras on, it really does make us happy to see our students. A few things:

  1. There will be no school on Monday, 1/18/21 in honor of Martin Luther King Holiday. What a time to honor him and remember the injustices that Dr. King fought. A time to remember his dream, his fight for freedom, equality, and dignity of all races and people through non-violence. We hope you enjoy MLK Holiday with your family.
  2. We will have student office hours and tutoring every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10:00-11:00am with our Academic Coach, Sebastian Reynoso. Please join him at his zoom during this time. During this time, students will receive help and support in classes and will also receive information needed to make up credits and grades in classes.
  3. We will have Parent Office Hours next week, Thursday, 1/21 4:00 at Grace’s zoom link here. Please mark your calendars and we will see you there to inform you of changes and updates for Semester 2.
  4. We will be hosting a college information session with our counselor, Mr. Ray Perez, February 18th at 5:00. Please mark your calendars and more information to follow.

Semester 2 is off to a good start!  Thank you for all your support and have a wonderful weekend!

Welcome Back!

Hi DV Remote Families,

Hope you had a safe and restful Winter Break! We are looking forward to starting Semester 2 with you. Classes will resume Monday at 3:45, starting with English class with Mr. White. In addition we have a few additions and reminders to start Semester 2 strong. One addition is that we will have tutoring/office hours Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00-11:00- these will be synchronous sessions where lessons from previous weeks will be reviewed and students can receive tutoring. Also, we want to remind students that it is expected to have video cameras ON to ensure the most benefit from the synchronous learning time. Looking forward to seeing all students on Monday at 3:45 at Mr. White’s Zoom Room!

Week 15 Update

Hi DVR Families,

Hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving Break!

With just 14 school days left until the end of the semester, we encourage you to check your student’s grades using this Powerschool link and talk with them about their learning and work in each of their classes. It is helpful to keep in mind that each course offered is an A-G approved course and required for graduation.

If your student is at risk of not passing a class and wants to know where to focus their energy in the remaining days of the semester, use this link to help prioritize essential assignments (students should already know this link). This list clarifies highest-priority assignments for each class:

Thank you for supporting your student by staying involved and engaged with their academic progress and growth, especially in an independent and remote setting!
